A.               Emailed prior to meeting. Motion to approve minutes ‘as is’ made and carried.

III.              Treasury, DCM, ADCM Reports  (Louis)

A.               Lou reported a balance in the checking account on 9/1/2021 of $5,446.45.  There were contributions of $598.76. There were Area Assembly and Workshop expenses of 696.40.  The balance on 9/30/21 was $5,348.81.  The savings account has a  balance of $504.45.  $.01 interest was earned this month. There was discussion about costs from the picnic, in the end it was agreed upon that the picnic is not meant to be a fundraiser but as a way of giving back to the friends and families of us in District 1.

B.               DCM Report (Marty)  – Not present

C.               ADCM Report (Ruthie) – Covering for Marty who was out of town. No report as ADCM

IV.             Intros and Group reports around the room

A.              Women in Recovery (DaNella) – still zoom, between 18 & 40 people, voted to not move and stay zoom for now

B.               Thursday Nite Sickos (Kim) – 20 to 30 people in person, doing well

C.               1 Rule Group (Steffon) – going well, up to 70 people, located at 6th & St. Louis

D.              Steps to Freedom (Diana) – new location: Mosaic Church at Pecos & 215, attendance is better than when at Central Office

E.               Tuesday Green Valley Group (Tina) – In person, between 15 & 25 people

F.               GVG Sunrise (Bob) – in person between 40 & 50 people, group asking for more information about changing wording of Preamble to “people” instead of “men and women”; advised it had been a topic for a couple of years on the Conference agenda items

G.              Friday Nite Stepping Out (Bobby) – still zoom for foreseeable future, 10 to 12 people

H.              Women’s Rock Solid Group (Carol) – back in person last week

 

V.               Committee Reports

 

A.               Picnic Report –(DaNella) DaNella gave Claudia’s written report, Was held October 9, 2021, 11 am-4 pm at Broadbent Park.  Successful picnic – about 100 people showed up, Spent $968 and collected $387. Popular attractions: Bouncy House, cornhole, music; Suggestions: move bouncy house away from music, assign people to supervise bouncy house, no pinata, no cake with so many desserts, no popcorn, buy less food, get sound system for speaker

 

B.               Workshops – (Bob V & Lou P) – Bob V not present, no report – request from a group in the district to have a workshop on Safety in AA. Lou will pass along info to Bob, there is safety literature we can use

 

C.                Archives-(Diana M) – Nothing new to share, Ronnie working hard to organize the archives.

 

D.               H&I – (Kevin L). – Not present, part of Intergroup report by DaNella – people going into prisons and institutions will have to have proof of vaccination, orientation is 3rd Tuesday at 5:30, followed by H&I regular meeting

E.               Grapevine (Janey) –  Not present – report by Libby, committee participated in a workshop with District 5B – Libby and Jake were presenters, good workshop, same day as the picnic

 

F.                Hotline – (Paul H.) – Passing around sign-up sheets for next year for District 1 hotline shift – 1st Monday of each month from 8pm to 8am, also looking for people to take shifts at home and/or at the Central Office, to be shift captains, and sign up for 12th step lists, Megan is new hotline chairperson

 

G.              PI/CPC – (Bob V.) No report.

 

H.              Intergroup (DaNella) – Silverstreak looking for stories; LYPAA will be hosting conference in Vegas – creating new name NACYPAA – 1st & 3rd Sunday meetings; Intergroup Outreach Committee – trying to get people to attend business meetings – doesn’t need a position to attend

 

I.                 Spanish District 21 (Diana) – District 21 is asking people in service to attend their district meetings, show up 1st Thursday of the month 7pm to 9pm at the Hispanic Central Office, 3111 S. Valley View #A208, Las Vegas, Diana attends and would arrange to meet anyone interested in going, 26th anniversary of La Vina is being celebrated in Vegas next summer – they are electing a board to run event and looking for help

VIII.          New Business:

1.               Motion: to pay Lost & Found $25 for wifi use when the District meetings are at the Lost & Found. – Motion: Passed

2.               Billy N. (Past Trustee) will be in the Las Vegas area in the near future and it was suggested that he would be a good speaker for a workshop – originally suggested concepts but he could also discuss safety in AA, Craig C. will follow up to find out when he will be in town
